2008, 6 years Progress

Thursday, July 1st, 2008. 6 years passed, I made gradual progress, and weighed 215lbs in these photos.

I accumulated a lot of knowledge about the sport and history of bodybuilding. I didn't really have any favorite bodybuilders, but I was just generally impressed by anyone who followed their dreams and made it into the pro ranks. I remember seeing Ronnie Coleman's "The Unbelievable," and I thought to myself, "How cool would it be to meet that guy in real life?"

All of my friends and family knew I was into bodybuilding, and for years they were encouraging me to compete. But, I was just happy living the lifestyle and making myself better from one day to the next. It seemed like, everywhere I went, people noticed me. I worked at a health food store, and customers always came straight to me for help. It was a great ego boost, a confidence builder, and I was content with that.

Part of my inhibition, came from my lack of first hand knowledge about the sport. I had been following the boards, and thought I really knew what went on behind the scenes. The common perception was that the only way to be successful required taking "stuff." I accepted what other people claimed as fact, without any real evidence. Instead of finding out for myself, I bought into gossip and hearsay. I couldn't have been further from the truth. But, at the time, I was too blind to realize it.

It took a lot of convincing before I realized my potential...
